Enrollment in ARC1301C – Architectural Design 1 requires prospective students to successfully complete and submit the entrance assessment and rank among the top test takers for the Fall 2026 semester.
No architecture experience is required.
Please note, the Architecture Studio Test is open for submissions once each academic year, according to the following schedule:

Intent to Participate Form Opens Online February 11 – May 30

Result Notifications July 15
Special Note: You will have twenty days to complete and submit the test. The final test must be submitted to the Submittable online portal by June 20, prior to 11:59PM.
Submission Instructions
Step 1:
Apply to Valencia College and, once accepted, log in to MyVC to select Architecture as your degree pathway. Please complete this step prior to the Studio Test Opening on June 1, 2026.
Special Note:
If you are a current Valencia College student, please confirm you selected architecture as your degree pathway via MyVC.
Step 2:
Complete the Intent to Participate Form here to confirm your interest. Once your submission is received, you will be officially considered a candidate.
Step 3:
On June 1, candidates will receive an email containing a link to access the Architecture Studio Test. You will have 20 days to work on your submission. You may pause and return to it as needed if you cannot complete it in one sitting.
Step 4:
Once completed, scan your sheets of paper and take a photograph of your constructed work.
Step 5:
Submit your Studio Test by uploading each scan and/or photograph as separate PDF files to the appropriate section via the Submittable link provided by June 20 at 11:59 PM.
Materials Needed for the Studio Test
For Questions 1-3
- You will need three pieces of 8.5” x 11” sheets of paper. One sheet per question.
For Question 4
- You will need one sheet of 22” x 28” poster board, cutting knife (such as an Xacto knife), glue, and ruler.
Important Tips for Success
- Thoroughly read and follow all test instructions.
- Don’t overthink — the test is an evaluation of your approach to the prompt.
- Schedule dedicated time to carefully consider your answers before final submission.
- Enjoy the process and have fun!
Architecture Studio Test Example Question
On an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper, please draw a route you take as part of your daily life responsibilities. This could be the path you take to school, work, a sports activity, or any other regular destination. Be sure to clearly indicate your starting point and finishing point.
Your drawing should include key landmarks such as buildings, parks, streets, and other notable features you encounter along your route. Use color, tone, and graphics to enhance the clarity and visual appeal of your map.
